Felt Flower

This week, I did some felt making - I loove felt making :-D.  I had a Gilliangladrag flower corsage kit that I have been meaning to make and today was the day I decided to give it a go...

I started off by laying down some wool fibres. The first layer of wool is in one direction and second layer is in the other direction, make sure that it is nice and even:

Then I laid a piece of old net curtain on top and sprinkle water and soap over it:

Here comes the fun bit :-D

Rub your hands over the top the net curtain - to make foamy bubbles!!:

Do this on both sides of the felt for a good few minutes.  Then take your felt and wrap it in a bamboo mat and roll 25 times, then rotate and roll for another 25 times do this until you have gone all the way around.

Leave the felt to dry flat and then it can be made into whatever you want, I made mine into this beautiful rose,  as it was part of a Gilliangladrag felting kit.  I  have to say I really enjoyed making my rose and Gilliangladrag provides good kits and would definitely recommend them, especially the complete kits for a first time felter.  They come with the things you need and easy to follow instructions :-)
