Too many strawberries!!

I bought loads of lovely strawberries from the market about a week ago and there still seemed to be loads left and starting to get a bit too ripe!!  I am not one for wasting food, so I turned to my good friend Google, and I came about a recipe for jam :-)

I thought that is a brilliant way to use up my strawberries!!

I had never made jam before, and there is always a risk with any of my cooking exploits, that it could go wrong lol...but I went ahead and gave it a go anyway :-)

I weighed my strawberries and added half as much caster sugar (ignored the vanilla pod - who has those lying around?)  then heated it for a good 5 - 10 minutes, periodically removing the build up of foam on top. After a while it started to thicken and I decided it was time to let it cool :-)

Once cooled It looked just like the jam you get in the shops - just not as well presented  (I wasn't fortunate enough to have a lovely jam jar to hand, so improvised with a Chinese take away tub) lol:

My jam!

I was really chuffed :-) I just had to try it out on some toast!!

It was AMAZINGG!!

I swiftly headed out to the shops to get some scones - a must have with strawberry jam!
