Funky Garden Pots

This week I decided I would get out into the garden and make a funky pot for my herbs :-)

This idea was also inspired by Pinterest. The original idea can be found here.  I decided I would leave my pots terracotta as that was the look I was going for in the garden
To make the my funky garden pots you need:
  • A metal rod
  • 5 small pots
  • 1 big pot
  • Some compost (peat free)
  • Herb plants/seeds
Here is what I did:

1. I used  a hammer to secure the metal rod into the ground where I wanted my funky pot to go.

2.  I then threaded the big pot onto the rod and filled with compost.

3.  I then threaded a smaller pot on top and tilted it to one side and again filled it with compost, which I then continued with the remaining plant pots alternating the sides

4. My little herby plants were then added to my funky pots :-).

Despite how funky and cool these pots look, I came across a couple of problems:

  • The first problem came when I was planting my plants - it was a little wobbly - probably should have bought a thicker metal rod

  • The second problem came about when watering my plants.  The water just ran straight off!! Not even a little soaked in!!

So since building my cool funky pots I have had to rethink my cool pot idea and it has now been dismantled :-( it was looking a tad dangerous in the wind lol...
